IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM XFONE

August 25, 2008

To all Xfone Customers,

A number of virus e-mails are circulating the Internet claiming to be from xfoneusa.com, xfoneusa.net, i-55.com, and other mail servers. These appear to be legitimate messages warning of virus traffic coming from your system, your e-mail account being suspended, etc. These messages are actually either an attempt to gather personal information (phishing) or a virus! Please disregard these e-mails. Do NOT open any files attached to them or click on ANY links they may contain. This action will cause your computer to become infected!

To assist our customers in determining valid messages being sent from Xfone we have implemented the following procedure. This e-mail and ALL future e-mail notices sent from xfone.net will be posted to the xfoneusa.com website. To insure that a message from Xfone is valid please do the following:

  • Open an Internet Browser and manually type in the web address http://www.xfoneusa.com. (NEVER use links in an e-mail to open this page! It is possible for e-mail links to point you to another website without your knowledge.)
  • On the xfoneusa.com homepage, click on the link titled "Important Notices from Xfone." It is under the "Current Customers" heading.
  • If the message you received is not on this page it was NOT sent from Xfone.

We highly recommend that all computers have virus scanning software installed and that virus updates are regularly applied. Additionally we recommend that all computers be regularly updated by visiting the Microsoft windows update link found in the Internet Explorer "tools" menu.

All of us at NTS/XfoneUSA are working to help make your Internet experience as enjoyable as possible. Please feel free to contact our Help Desk at 1-800-310-4481 with any questions you may have.

Thanks,

Milton Schober, Jr.
